About The Crafted Orchard

Harvesting Memories, One Season at a Time

The Crafted Orchard is a family-owned and operated venture rooted in the Brainerd Lakes area of Minnesota. Founded by Angie and Trever Litchy, the orchard is a reflection of their love for the outdoors, family time, and creating lasting memories. Together with their children—Brianna and her partner Dustin and his kids, Kayla, and Ry—as well as their dogs Ursa and Baloo (and their grand-dog, Milo!), the Litchy family is building something truly special.

Their journey began in 2020, during the height of the pandemic. Like many families, the Litchys were faced with tough decisions and a desire to focus on what truly matters. In 2022, they took a leap of faith and purchased raw land with a vision: to create a sustainable, engaging, and family-centered apple orchard.

Rooted in Family

The Crafted Orchard is more than a business—it's a way of life. The Litchys envisioned a space that would keep them connected to the land, to their community, and to each other. It’s a place where families can make memories, enjoy fresh produce, and learn more about the natural world. While their children aren’t quite ready to take over the reins, the orchard was built with future generations in mind.

Mission & Vision

The mission of The Crafted Orchard is to provide a family-friendly experience through farm-based activities in a rural setting, with an emphasis on:

  • Building strong relationships

  • Supporting physical and mental well-being

  • Offering educational opportunities

  • Encouraging fun and exploration

The orchard is designed to become a cherished tradition for families—something they return to year after year.

What’s Growing

The orchard is home to over 900 apple trees, including hardy Minnesota favorites like Honeycrisp, SweeTango, First Kiss, and Kudos. A quarter-acre of strawberries has also been planted for U-pick opportunities in early summer. Although the trees experienced hail damage in their first year and likely won’t bear fruit until 2026, the Litchys remain committed to growing slowly and sustainably. The journey is just as important as the harvest.

Looking Ahead

Exciting things are on the horizon at The Crafted Orchard. Plans include U-pick apples and strawberries, a full fall experience with pumpkins, a corn maze, hayrides, and kid-friendly attractions like tractor train rides and a play area. Visitors may also be able to rent e-bikes to explore nearby Crow Wing State Park. The orchard will feature a retail space with handmade goods from local artisans, as well as educational activities and seasonal classes. A future multipurpose building will serve as a space for community learning and connection.

A Commitment to Sustainability

Environmental responsibility is a core value at The Crafted Orchard. In 2024, the orchard became Water Quality Certified, a milestone that reflects the family’s dedication to sustainable farming practices. Every decision—from installing a 10-foot deer exclusion fence to managing wildlife and choosing responsible planting methods—reflects their commitment to preserving the land for generations to come.

Join the Journey

The Crafted Orchard is more than a destination—it’s a community in the making. The Litchy family is incredibly grateful for the support they’ve received so far and looks forward to welcoming more families to share in the experience.

Whether you're visiting the fall farm stand, exploring the U-pick fields, or just keeping up with the journey, you're invited to be part of the story—and to harvest memories that last a lifetime. Frequently Asked Questions

Q. When will the orchard be open to the public?

We’re still in the early stages of growing, and our apple trees need a few more seasons before they’re ready for full harvest. We expect to welcome guests for U-pick apples around 2026. In the meantime, keep an eye on our Facebook page for farm stand dates, events, and updates.

Q. What can I expect to find at the farm stand?

Our seasonal farm stand features pumpkins, handmade goods from local artisans, and photo-worthy spots for making fall memories. We’ll also have fresh-picked strawberries available during early summer, depending on the crop.

Q. Do you offer U-pick strawberries?

Yes! We’ve planted a quarter-acre of strawberries and plan to offer U-pick in June and July as the crop matures. Follow us on Facebook for picking schedules and availability updates.

Q. Are pets allowed at the orchard?

While we love animals (we have a few of our own!), we ask that guests leave pets at home for the safety and comfort of all visitors, unless it's a certified service animal.

Q. Will you have activities for kids?

Absolutely! Creating a fun, family-friendly experience is a big part of our mission. Future plans include a kids’ play area, tractor train rides, corn pits, scavenger hunts, and seasonal educational activities.

Q. How can I stay updated on events and opening dates?

The best way to stay in the loop is by following The Crafted Orchard on Facebook and signing up for our newsletter. We’ll share progress updates, seasonal happenings, and early announcements right to your inbox or feed.
